Editorial policy
AFL Editorial writes and maintains the case record, while contributed solutions follow fixed review, publication, and capacity rules.

Two layers
Each case has a stable editorial layer and a capacity-limited solutions layer. The editorial layer explains what happened, why it happened, and what evidence supports the account. Corrections are added visibly rather than replacing the history of the record. The solutions layer records different ways practitioners can respond without presenting any fix as final.
The editorial layer is ours
AFL Editorial writes and maintains the editorial layer. Source material is rewritten into the house structure so every case reads consistently and can be compared against the same sourcing standard. The writing is AFL’s job.
Submission verdicts do not decide the public record. Every rejection carries a written reason, and acceptance is not publication. Publication remains an independent editorial decision.
How solutions join the record
A contributor submits a proposed solution, AFL Editorial reviews it, and publishable work joins the case in publication order. Every solution identifies the part of the root cause it addresses, explains the fix at mini-postmortem depth, covers prevention, and states its tradeoffs, including when it is the wrong choice. Tradeoffs are mandatory. Credit defaults to AFL Editorial unless the contributor supplies a credit name, which appears as supplied.
Better approaches are welcome while capacity remains, under permanent rules:
- Publication order is the only display order.
- No solution is presented as the definitive or correct answer.
- A case publishes at most ten solutions and then closes to further solution submissions.
- Votes, support signals, rankings, popularity measures, and contributor reputation do not exist and will not be added.
Independence
Cases are selected on evidence. No vendor, sponsor, or platform may influence what is documented or how an incident is described.
Naming organisations, not individuals
Organisations and systems are named where the public record names them. The library documents mechanisms, not personal blame.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the change will be identified here rather than folded into the record silently. Published cases and solutions are withdrawn rather than deleted, and their URLs do not change.
