02 — Implementation
Acquire only the material required for an active use with a documented justification and set a deletion event before copying begins. When that use ends, remove the source copies instead of preserving a standing library for unspecified future needs. Maintain a tested purge path keyed to provenance records so a source can be quarantined or removed across the corpus without waiting for litigation.
03 — Prevention
Review retention dates as part of every acquisition and alert on source copies that remain after their documented use and deletion deadline expire.
04 — Trade-offs
Prompt deletion reduces the ability to reproduce or audit a training run against its original corpus and can force costly re-acquisition if material becomes unavailable. It is the wrong choice where long-term reproducibility is mandatory unless lawful archival rights and a justified retention policy are secured first.
